Specifics of the Job

This position will be based in Dublin City Centre on a large Commercial project valuing €40 million.

We will require someone who has experience in working on a PSCS Construction Team.

Overview

You will be involved in developing, monitoring and implementing the company’s EHS Management system, ensuring that at all time we are compliant with Health and Safety Regulation.

Key Duties

  • Implement the company’s Environmental Health and Safety policy, procedures and management systems.
  • Provide advice, guidance and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives and employees (including sub-contractors where appropriate).
  • Ensure the overall compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions & legislation.
  • Ensure good safety practices are managed and maintained.
  • Deliver Health & Safety training programmes such as inductions etc. for new employees or sub-contractors working on site.
  • Coordinate the review and development of task specific EHS documentation such as method statements, risk assessments, safe plan of actions, permit to work.
  • Conduct regular inspections and site audits, report findings to site and senior company management. Strict follow-up is required to ensure that actions are dealt with immediately.
  • Ensure that all incidents are reported, recorded, investigated and lessons learned communicated. Ensuring notification is given to the Directors, Health & Safety Authority and Insurers as required.
  • Ensure that safety interventions are completed & recorded. Adopt a Proactive approach to project EHS requirements.
  • Carry out administrative duties to ensure the maintenance of the EHS Management systems such as maintaining registers, records, monthly reports and reporting presentations to management where required.
  • Advise & assist site management in drafting and communicating EHS initiatives and Toolbox Talks.
  • Compile relevant information for inclusion in the Safety File and preparing for handover to the Client at the end of the project.
  • Promote the Company mission of being a healthy and incident and injury free workplace

Skills/Experience Required

  • Hold a relevant third level Qualification in Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Have a minimum of 4 years’ experience
  • Must have previous experience working on a large project
  • Hold a full, clean Driving license
  • Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including strong excel skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and exhibit strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate building strong working relationships & stakeholder management

Senior Quantity Surveyor | Main Contractor | Cambridge

The Role
Seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for our project based in Cambridge. This role will be responsible for  budget preparation and estimates, progress reports, final account preparation, client interaction and attending various design team / site meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising and reporting to the Commercial Director, Project Director, and Project Manager.
  • Liaising with the Design Team to ensure requirements and specifications are met
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Client Representatives to support the activities and maintain positive relations on behalf of the Company
  • Reviewing tender enquiries and tender analysis for projects.
  • Estimating and tendering for projects in conjunction with Head Office Quantity Surveying Staff
  • Negotiating new projects and fixed price premiums which are cost effective
  • Organizing and chairing pre-award meetings with new sub-contractors in conjunction with the Construction Team
  • Subcontract purchasing and monitoring of packages on site
  • Monitoring of contra charges and notification to sub-contractors
  • Sub-contractor re-measurement, interim and final account payments
  • Processing fortnightly / monthly sub-contractor payment certificates
  • Compiling the variation log and signing off on variations with the Junior Quantity Surveyor
  • Issuing interim payment applications to the Junior Quantity Surveyor and correlating payments received.
  • Final account preparations at the end of the project
  • Cost monitoring and reporting using construction computer software and attending monthly cost reporting meetings
  • Cashflow forecasting for projects and issuing monthly reports to accounts
  • Keeping abreast of various changes in industry and competitive environment in which the company operates.
  • Planning and performing other duties and projects as assigned

You will need

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience with proven track record in dealing with Subcontractors and Clients in relation to Valuations, Variations, Final Accounts and cost reporting
  • Thorough understanding of specifications, bills of quantities and drawings
  • Strong expertise in extracting quantities from drawings and issuing enquiries to sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure that accurate quotations are received within specified time frames
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and other Quantity Surveying Packages
  • Proven track record in Commercial / Industrial Projects
  • Excellent budgetary responsibility experience
  • Superb written and oral communication skills, including the ability to provide and explain accurate reporting.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Self-starter and ability to organise the workday around assigned activities and priorities with minimum supervision.
  • Flexible with a high-level commitment to success.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team with a wide variety of individuals

Due to the development of new and existing projects my client is recruiting for Quantity Surveyors with a minimum of 2 years experience.

Working alongside an extensively experienced commercial team you will be working within & assisting the team to ensure a successful project is delivered, while maintaining relationships, maximizing commercial returns and managing risk.

You will be:

  • Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate s/cs, negotiation & finalise s/c orders, financial & commercial management of s/cs to Final Account completion.
  • Managing and reporting of forecasts, target, reconciliations, site records, document control, variation reporting, valuations, assisting in the site records & document control
  • Liaising with & commercially influence/challenge site management team whilst maintaining & protecting JSS commercial & contractual entitlement
  • Managing & overseeing AQS & TQS, checking & taking responsibility for their work & sign-off SMM/measurement issues

You will have:

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in residential/commercial construction projects
  • A relevant 3rd level qualification

Senior Estimator | Main Design & Build Contractor | London or Cookstown

Reporting to the Commercial Director, as a Senior Estimator you will be required to provide tendering and detailed cost estimates on Construction projects within the Commercial sector with values ranging from £20m to £100m.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Taking a lead role in liaison directly with the client and their representatives during the tender process and in closing out any negotiations or tender agreements
  • Manage and mentor Assistant Estimators as the need arises
  • Appraisal of tender documents
  • Preparing tender cost plans
  • Completion of tender documentation and submission of the tender
  • Raising tender queries with the client team and tracking the responses to same
  • Risk management throughout the tender period and preparation of the tender Risk Register
  • Value engineering throughout the design phase
  • Visit site to identify site specific risks
  • Attending mid & post tender interviews with the client team
  • Ensuring timely responses to all correspondence
  • Accurate filing of all tender documents
  • Prepare budgets and cost plans
  • Preparation of material and sub-contract enquiries including selection of prospective subcontractors
  • Interrogation of supply chain returns to ensure these meet the requirements of the tender
  • Attending strategy/opportunity meetings with project team
  • Ensure a smooth handover of the project to the site team
  • Any other duties as required by management

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • A Degree / HND in Quantity Surveying or other relevant discipline preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant estimating experience preferably gained with a Design & Build Main Contractor.
  • A detailed understanding of the commercial aspects of the construction industry
  • Working knowledge of form of contract such as JCT and NEC3
  • Highly motivated, driven with ability to work individually or part of a team
  • Flexible and positive approach.
  • IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages

This Tier 1 Contractor are delighted to be growing their team of expertly skilled commercial professionals with the addition of a Senior Commercial Lead at their Foynes – Limerick Railway Project, this position will be based at the site office in Foynes, Co. Limerick.

As Senior Commercial Lead you will be responsible for leading and developing the commercial team as well as building and maintaining relationships, analysing and reporting on extensive data whilst ensuring efficient and effective project delivery.

You will:

  • Lead the commercial team to ensure delivery of key responsibilities and develop their knowledge through training, development and support
  • Supervise the preparation of Cost Plans for complex projects, using a range of cost planning techniques and software, managing the compilation of data to permit various analyses
  • Prepare long term cash forecasts for complex projects, monitors results and interpret reasons for deviations,using established techniques to minimise outflow of cash and maximise inflow
  • Identify unacceptable terms and conditions and negotiate contracts with clients and employers

You will have:

  • Completed a relevant third level qualification
  • 2+ years experience in Civil Commercial Management
  • Excellent communication, reporting, leadership and relationship management experience
  • Experience reporting and analysing commercial data at a Tier 1 level
